GUITARIST
JOSH GOOCH

Teen Embodies Old Soul

of Classic Rock and Roll

"...I had the pleasure of recording Josh Gooch at my studio, Duck Tape Music, in Decatur and at a live concert at 2nd Street Music Hall in Gadsden, Alabama. He is one of the most exciting young guitar players I've ever seen. Not only does he have the technique, more importantly, he knows what and when to play. I plan to use him on my session in the future."
Johnny Sandlin, Legendary Producer

“ ...just wanted to thank you for doing the www.ShareMyGuitar.com PodCast. Your knowledge of guitars and guitarists, styles and nuances and natural ability to cross over multiple genres of music is rare in someone of your age. Mickey and I and the staff writers listened to your rough PodCast today and we mutually agreed that it was not only extremely informative and entertaining, but will challenge other guitarists intellectually to strive do what you do. The whole staff of SMG is very impressed!
Thanks again.”

On the Verge: Five Artists You Should Know About

"Sandlin also brought in young virtuoso guitarist, Josh Gooch, who makes his debut here playing lead and slide. "I’m more impressed with Josh Gooch than any guitarist I’ve heard in a long time." Says Sandlin. "During the sessions for the Highly Kind album, he reminded me of Duane Allman—the way he absorbs things. He’s like a sponge…"

JOSH GOOCH FINISHES IN THE TOP 5 IN GUITAR CENTER’S “KING OF THE BLUES” CONTEST

On Thursday November 12th before a full house, 18 year old San Diego guitar phenomenon Josh Gooch vied for the title of “King of the Blues” in Guitar Center’s national search for the next great undiscovered blues guitarist. “King of the Blues” was introduced by Guitar Center in 2006 as a way to give upcoming musicians the opportunity to garner exposure and success in the industry. Using his passion, style, and expertise, Josh set himself apart from the other hopefuls after having been chosen from 4000 contenders nationwide to compete in this final contest.

The grand finals, held at Hollywood’s House of Blues Sunset, featured performances by Josh and the four other finalists, as well as by legendary Blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa and Grammy Award winning guitarist Pete Anderson. Although he did not take the title, Josh’s unique sound and incredible energy made him an audience favorite, his performances met with thunderous applause and standing ovation.
